Identity of soldier who killed journalist’s dog revealed, officer arrested in Borno
Earlier, information gotten from the people around the Bakassi camp had suggested that an Air Force personnel, who usually position himself at the gate of the IDP camp carried out the shooting.
Alele has since admitted to shooting the dog and has been arrested. He has equally been moved to the 7 division Nigeria Army by the Military Police for the offence.
Reacting to the development, Bwala said, “When I went out looking for my dog, I spoke with many people outside the IDP camp who told me it was an Air Force personnel. But after the investigation, it was established that it was his colleague from the Army that killed my dog. There was a killing and it was carried out by a soldier. However, there was a mistake, which I admit and to be fair to the Air Force, it was not their personnel, as the soldier who did the shooting has already admitted.’
” My dog is like a family. I nursed him for three years and seven months. I always ensure he got all the vaccines and there had been no record of him being aggressive that was ever reported. It was sad that I lost him, and I feel the pain like any other person so close to his pet would feel. It was so unfortunate that he had to go this way,” Bwala lamented.
