Chairman, Inter-Party Advisory Committee, IPAC in Enugu, Rev. John
Nwobodo, says Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and its leader, Nnamdi
Kanu, were joking when they called for the boycott of Anambra State
November election.
He described as unacceptable the insistence of IPOB that the election
would not hold unless they got referendum to actualize Biafra.
Nwobodo, in a chat with newsmen, said IPOB had no right to order people not to participate in an electoral process.
The Enugu State chairman of the Social Democratic Party, SDP,
maintained that since the areas agitating for Biafra independence were
still part of Nigeria, IPOB erred by giving calling for boycott of
election.
“Telling people to boycott the Anambra polls. I think is a joke taken
too far by members of IPOB because we are still part of Nigeria and
should participate in the electoral process,” he said.
On the rejection of restructuring and devolution of powers by the
National Assembly, Nwobodo said that the matter has not been concluded.
He expressed hope that the bill would be revisited soon and urged for “wider consultations with various stakeholders”.
