Governor Willie Obiano has continued to garner more support as more groups declare their determination to mobilize for him.
Inaugurating
the Akpokuedike Fan Club, yesterday at Professor Dora Akunyili Women's
Development Centre, Awka, state Deputy Governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke who
spoke onbehalf of Governor Obiano, assured of continued delivery of good
governance to State citizenry.
While expressing satisfaction at
the level of support already garnered by Governor Obiano, Deputy
Governor, Okeke noted that the Governor's commitment to leadership is
responsible for such goodwill, saying that it's not out of place as they
are exercising their right to a better life, as it is no longer just a
matter of party affiliation, but about Governor Obiano's character and
commitment to leadership.
Dr Okeke who assured of
working with the Fan Club at the right time to mobilize people for the
election to ensure Governor Obiano's return, stressed that in order for
peace to continue to reign supreme in the State, the Northern part of
the State should be allowed to complete a second term of four years.
He
further emphasized that the success of the campaign is dependent on
them, calling for increased actions towards ensuring that people are
well sensitized on the need to come out and vote en masse, as well as
protect their votes to make it count.
A former Nigerian
Ambassador to Spain and the wife of the former Biafran War lord, Chief
Mrs Bianca Ojukwu described the job of the members of the club as
important, saying that APGA and its leadership remains a replica and
model of late Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu's dream of a region where excellence
prevails.
Chief Mrs Ojukwu underlined the need for the APGA
dream to be upheld for posterity sake, stressing that those clamoring
for the boycott of elections in the State should be well advised to
begin such calls in their home State, adding that Governor Obiano should
be returned for second term to sustain the dividends of good governance
in the State.
She warned that Igbo Youths are the most
endangered, as there is no visible federal government presence in terms
of infrastructure, adding that APGA remains the voice of Ndi Igbo and
should be supported.
Earlier, the President of Akpokuodike Fan
Club, Barrister Chika Ekwunugo noted that their base covers the one
hundred and seventy seven Communities in the State with a target of five
hundred ambassadors in each Town before the end of September, with the
only criterion being having a voters card, saying that their drive is
engineered by Governor Obiano's approach to governance which had
translated to positive revolution in governance.
Also present at
the inauguration ceremony were the member representing Njikoka Two
Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Dr Pete Ibida, Chairman of
Anambra State Housing Development cooperation, Chief Godson Ezenagu,
Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Entrepreneurship and
Empowerment, Dr Onyeka Ibezim, among others.
