Over 150 killed in Cross River communal clash
Mr. Inaku, who was speaking with DAILY POST on phone on Monday lamented that over 14, 000 people had been displaced and one thousand two hundred and thirty three (1, 233) houses destroyed.
The Director General explained that the communal clash was caused by claim and counter claim over a parcel of land in the area, pointing out that residents of about 41 villages were taking refuge at a neighbouring Oju LGA of Benue state
The four IDPs camps have been established in Oju LGA by Benue State government.
The Secretary of Yala local government area, Mr Samuel Oko said that some of the victims were camped in churches, schools, and community halls, with little or no sleeping materials, cooking utensils, food and water.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Irene Igbo told DAILY POST on phone that more security operatives had been deployed to the area.
