Ondo PDP expels factional chairman, other Sheriff’s loyalists

Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday announced the expulsion of four members over anti-party activities.
The party said activities of those affected were affecting the peace moves instituted by the State Executive Council of the party.

The four expelled members are the factional chairman in the state, Mr. Biyi Poroye, Johnson Alabi, Yemi Ajonibode and Ademola Gentry.
They all belong to the Ali Modu Sheriff faction of the PDP.
Recall that Poroye last week hinted ‎that some members might join the Mega Party of Nigeria (MPN) if the Ahmed Makarfi faction was not sincere with the reconciliation.
Earlier some loyalists of Sherif and Senator Buruji Kashamu (PDP-Ogun East) defected to the MPN.

The defectors were led by a former factional PDP chairman in Ondo State, Ebenezer Alabi, and Director General of Omo Ilu Foundation, Otunba Leke Adekoya.
Adekoya is also Kahamu’s Senatorial Liaison Assistant (SLA).
At the weekend, Ondo PDP in a terse statement issued by the state chairman, Chief Clement Faboyede, dissolved the faction led by Poroye executive.
It said the faction had remained “irreconcilable, intransigent and disloyal to the party’s interest and goal”.

According to the statement, the decision to expel the four members followed provocative and irresponsible vulgar vituperation from Poroye and his followers in the media.

Faboyede stated that: “as a responsible manager of our party in the state, we feel that these actions cannot be justified or excused particularly in view of our recent experience.”
