A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mike Ahamba, has said that
Nigeria does not need geographical restructuring but resource control in
order to survive its current challenges.
Ahamba, who spoke to the media in Owerri, said the problem of Nigeria
was due to its transition from a country of “production” to
“distribution.”
He said: “There are several types of restructuring. One can be
territorial restructuring, devolution of powers restructuring while
another one is economic restructuring and the most important is the
resource control restructuring.
“The one that is causing trouble, as far as I am concerned is not the
geographical restructuring or other restructuring but the resource
control restructuring.
“I think Nigerians should tell themselves the truth that we are living in breach of the constitution.
“The agreement we made before we decided to stay together as one
country is being breached. I will like to recall that, when we decided
to stay together as one Nigeria, we said we will live on production.
When the military came in, they reversed it to distribution instead of
production, we ab initio agreed upon.”
