President Muhammadu Buhari’s wife, Aisha has condoled with the family
of late Nigeria Permanent Representative to United Nation, UN, Alhaji
Maitama Sule who died on Monday.
Sule, a former Minister of Petroleum took ill over the weekend and was flown to Cairo, Egypt where he eventually gave up the ghost.
Reacting to the death of the Danmasanin Kano, Mrs Buhari, in a
statement by her Director of Information, Suleiman Haruna said, the
deceased was an epitome of humility, moderation, tolerance, patriotism
and love.
She said the late diplomat died at a time Nigeria needed his wise
counsel, adding that “Danmasani availed himself at all times to national
causes of cohesion, peace and stability.”
“I received with shock, but total submission to the will of Allah,
the death of Dr Yusuf Maitama Sule, Danmasanin Kano, a leading light of
Nigeria.”
“He will be remembered for his stabilising role as an elder statesman
and a national example whose life is worthy of commendation and
emulation.
“I wish to extend my heartfelt condolences to the government and
people of Kano State and his family in particular over this sad loss,”
she said.
