The suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr
Babachir Lawal and the current Comptroller General of customs, Col.
Hameed Ali rtd, have been allegedly accused of collaborating with the
Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to recall the embattled
lawmaker from Kogi West, Senator Dino Melaye.
The Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress in Ijumu
Local Government Gbenga Bright in a statement issued to journalist in
Lokoja said the party is aware of the unholy secret meeting between the
duo and the incumbent governor.
Bright said, ” Investigation revealed that the duo were secretly
consulted by Kogi state government to seek and use their national
influence and clout to influence and support the governor on the ongoing
futile recall journey desperately sponsored by Kogi state government”.
The APC scribe recalled that, Senator Dino Melaye, in the last few
months while brilliantly exercising his constitutional legislative
function and roles at the Senate, had been having running battle with Mr
Babachir now suspended for corruption related offences and abuse of
office.
“Reports of the Senate indicting Babachir for corruption and abuse of
office is currently with the Acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo.
While Col. Hameed Ali, rtd, Custom CG, was been checkmated and cautioned
for non compliance to rules of engagements and appointment and his
total disregard for constituted authorities.”
“The unholy meeting between the trio of Governor Yahaya Bello
Babachir Lawal and Hameed Ali, was to fashion out how they can muster
collective support with a view to influence INEC to their favour, over
the purported, fruitless and counterproductive exercise tagged recall
against the best Senator of the year, 2016, distinguished Sen Dino
Melaye.”
“We want to assure Our party leaders, teeming supporters, youths, the
good and loyal electorates of Kogi west and the public, that Senator
Dino Melaye, is not worried, unshaken by the their satanic gang up
against his person.
According to him, Constitutional Democracy has to do with the people,
not for the authoritarian few, adding that the camp of the embattled
senator is aware of some forged names and signatures submitted to INEC,
including that of the dead.
He vowed that those behind this act will be exposed just as, he
frowned at few tools from Kogi West who according to him monetized their
integrity and conscience for their selfish interest.
