Jose Mourinho has told Manchester United to drop their pursuit of Cristiano Ronaldo
() and aim to sign Neymar instead, according to Don Balon.
Ronaldo has been linked with a return to Old Trafford, after reports emerged that he wants to quit Real Madrid this summer.
The 28-year-old threatened to leave Spain, after he claimed he was
being treated like a criminal when authorities launched a £13m tax
probe.
Having worked with Ronaldo in a tense spell at Madrid, Mourinho is
not very keen on reuniting with his compatriot in England and thinks
Neymar will be a better fit in his squad.
Mourinho is also keen on Ronaldo’s team-mate, Alvaro Morata, as he
seeks a replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has been released by the
Premier League side.
Morata is also keen to leave the Santiago Bernabeu during this
transfer window, after struggling for game time under Zinedine Zidane.
He re-signed for Los Blancos for £26m last year but only started 14
league games, netting 15 goals.
