Eid-el-Fitri: APC chieftain, Faparusi hails Muslims for uniting against Nigeria’s breakup
Faparusi said the citizens have tremendous benefit to derive from staying together taking cognizance of the humongous human and material resources available to the country than for it to be balkanized, saying many of the countries that were products of
secession are presently working for reintegration.
The APC Chieftain said this in an Eid-el-Fitri message to Muslims in Ado Ekiti , on Friday in commemoration of the end of Ramadan.
He said those canvassing for the Nigeria’s disintegration must look beyond politics and ethnic consideration and think broadly of the corporate benefits populace are deriving from the present status, in terms of global recognition, diplomatic relations and natural
endowments, both human and materials.
He said Ramadan signposted holiness and Godliness , urging them to continually live a holy life as typified by Prophet Mohammed (SAW) for it is through this they can overcome the temptations of corruption, adultery , and other social vices that can cause restiveness in the society.
“We must continue to stay together, because in unity our strength lies. Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba are brothers through Allah’s divine arrangement. We must stop the agitators of Nigeria’s break up for we have nothing to gain when we are separated from one another as brothers.
Faparusi added that the essence of Ramadan is to teach the culture of “resilience, sacrifice, love , brotherhood, meekness and other virtues that can transform a society, pleading that such should be allowed to manifest in our daily lives having been demonstrated during the holy month .
The APC chieftain appealed to religious leaders to intensify quests to free Nigeria from all forms of religious tension by preaching against bigotry and educate their adherents on the need to understand that Nigeria is a secular state.
