10 Killed, 6 Missing As Boko Haram Raid Communities Around Chibok
At least five persons were, on Sunday, killed and six others missing,
following simultaneous attacks by Boko Haram insurgents on Komdi and
Tuyan villages near Chibok in the Southern part of Borno State.
Indigenes of the
villages, including hunters, told SaharaReporters that the terrorists
stormed the villages at about 6 pm.
"They rode on motorcycles to Komdi at about 6 pm on Sunday and started shooting wildly, forcing the villagers to flee into the bush. Unfortunately, they killed three persons and left many injured," Yakubu told SaharaReporters in a phone chat.
Another local, Ali Ba'na, said Tuyan was razed, with the terrorists killing two persons. He added that six persons, including five women and one girl, are still missing.
"We believe they have been forcefully taken away by Boko Haram. They burnt down the whole village after they had looted our food items and livestock. They left nothing behind," Ba'na told this website by phone.
In a related development, suspected Boko Haram terrorists killed five patrolling Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) members, who had previously killed six terrorists near Sambisa Forest.
A CJTF commander told SaharaReporters that the incident occurred at Yale village in Konduga Local Government Area on Sunday.
“We had attacked a terrorists' camp near Yale village. The terrorists regrouped and opened fire on us, killing five CJTF members. But that won't deter us in our fight against insurgents," the commander said defiantly.
