Arsenal Vs Reading: EFL Cup Today At 7:45pm - European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) - Sports

Reading heads to Arsenal. Arsenal host Reading in the Round of 16 of the EFL Cup in what will be a replica of their famous match four years ago. In what is probably one of the most famous League Cup matches, Arsenal eventually came out winners with a 7-5 victory. Although the Gunners did not win at the weekend, they have been in fine form over the last few weeks and will be looking to continue that against Reading, let’s hope this game is a much easier affair.

English defender Carl Jenkinson will make his first appearance for the Arsenal senior team since May 2014, when he scored in a 2-0 Premier League triumph over Norwich.

The talented full-back has since spent two years on loan at West Ham, making 52 league appearances and scoring 2 goals, before a serious knee ligament injury ended his spell with the Hammers.

Jenkinson has since made full recovery and is finally in line to put on an Arsenal shirt in a competitive fixture as Arsene Wenger moved to confirm the defender will feature in the EFL Cup clash with Reading.

Gabriel Paulista is set for a second appearance of the season having recovered from injury, while summer recruit Rob Holding and talented youngster Jeff Reine-Adelaide will be given a chance to impress as well.

“It will be a similar squad to against Nottingham Forest,” Wenger told the club’s official website. “We will have Gabriel, Holding, Jenkinson will be back and will play.

“Jeff Reine-Adelaide will play, otherwise I think Iwobi, Lucas, Oxlade-Chamberlain will also play. Gibbs – who captained the team at Forest – will do it again on Tuesday.”

After a second-string side impressed in the 4-0 triumph over Nottingham Forest a month ago, they have clearly earned the right to face Reading on Tuesday evening, and another comfortable win seems on the cards.

Having missed a chance to climb to the Premier League summit, the Gunners can be backed at 8/11 to record a half-time/full-time win.
