Okorocha swears in newly-elected LG chairmen

The Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has sworn in the
newly-elected local government chairmen in the state.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Government House in Owerri on Monday.

The governor, while speaking at the event, charged the new chairmen to
ensure that they commit themselves to meaningful projects and
programmes in their respective communities at the grassroots.

According to him, "The people have yearned for a representative for a
long time and have proved their desire by going out in large numbers
to vote in candidates of their choice.

"To whom much is given, much is expected."

The governor further stated that his administration will continue to
embark on developmental projects that will ensure that people at the
grassroots also benefit from the dividends of democracy.

DAILY POST reported that the All Progressives Congress (APC) won all
the 27 chairmanship seats.

Chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC), Mr
Ethelbert Ebebuchi, revealed this on Sunday in Owerri.

He also announced that the ruling party won 636 councillorship seats
out of the 645 wards in the state.
