Plateau killings: What I would have done to Miyetti Allah if I were President – Ozekhome

Human rights activist, Mike Ozekhome has said he would arrest leaders
of Miyetti Allah over killings in the country if he was President
Muhammadu Buhari.

Ozekhome said this while speaking on Channels TV on Sunday, noting
that the present security measures put in place is not working, hence
the need for a change.

He said, "It is only a fool that seeks to have a different result by
applying the same method by which the problem started.

"It is, therefore, clear that the present security architecture is
flawed, therefore, there is need for President Buhari to look into it
and rejig it.

"Nigeria has turned into a theatre of blood, everybody is afraid for their life.

"Although it is the right of the president to appoint Security Chiefs,
he should look at it from the federal character. The security chiefs
are from one geopolitical zone of the country, this negates the
principle of federal character.

"If I were Mr President, I would rejig the current security
architecture of the country. I would be firm on the perpetrators and
not be emotional.

"The leaders of Miyetti Allah have come out to say they carried out
the dastardly act. If I were the president, I would call for the
arrest of Miyetti Allah.

"They have always defended these killings, saying there are
anti-grazing laws, giving all sort of excuses for killings.

"Now these people have come out to say they carried this act for the
exchange of their 300 cows and there has been no prosecution or arrest
for this.

"Boko Haram is restricted but herdsmen are everywhere."
