Unpaid salaries: Shehu Sani reacts to workers’ protest at National Assembly

The lawmaker representing Kaduna Central at the upper legislative
chamber, Senator Shehu Sani, has reacted to the protest by staff of
the National Assembly over unpaid salaries.

We reported yesterday that staff of National Assembproly blocked the
entrance to the legislative chambers and stopped lawmakers from
accessing their offices.

The staff were protesting the failure of the National Assembly
leadership to pay their salaries.

Senator Sani said the protesters were right to demand their legitimate
rights, adding that the leadership of NASS had already swung into
action.

He tweeted, "Today the staff of the NASS denied us entry into the
chambers in protest for their entitlements.

"I ran into the protesters chanting solidarity songs. They have the
right to protest and their demands are legitimate.

"The leadership of NASS is in talks to resolve the issues squarely."
