Senate rejected only 13 executive nominees in two years – Saraki

Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has revealed that since
the 8th Senate was inaugurated in June 2015, it has confirmed 227 out
of 240 nominees that it has received from the executive.

Speaking on Wednesday after the confirmation of Hon. Ibrahim Rufai
Imam, as the new Grand Khadi of the Sharia Court of Appeal, President
of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki said, "So far, we have
treated about 240 confirmations here in the Senate, of which 227 have
been affirmative and only 13 have been negative".

Saraki, on behalf of the entire Senate, congratulated the new Grand
Khadi and wish him a successful tenure, saying, he hoped that he would
continue to play his role in the judiciary.

"Sometimes, we get the impression that this Senate tends to say more
'No' than 'Yes.' But these numbers today show the level of cooperation
that we will continue to give the executive", Saraki added.
